Genuine Happiness — Lily and Tom at Centennial Parklands, Sydney

There are couples who are happy on their wedding day, and then there are couples who are genuinely, completely, can't-wipe-the-smile-off-their-face happy. Lily and Tom were the latter. From the groomsmen fussing over Tom on the deck in the morning to the two of them losing it laughing during the speeches at night, the joy in this day was completely unforced and utterly contagious.

The ceremony took place in Centennial Parklands, one of Sydney's most quietly beautiful settings. Towering gum trees, wide open lawns, and two tall white fluted pedestals holding the most lush arrangements of white blooms — delphiniums, hydrangeas, and ranunculus reaching skyward. White Tiffany chairs lined either side of the aisle and Jess and Matt played live as guests arrived and settled in. It was the kind of ceremony setup that feels both grand and completely natural at the same time.

Lily was stunning in a strapless sweetheart ballgown, the kind of dress that moves beautifully and photographs even better. The veil was a moment all of its own — we got it billowing in the breeze for portraits, then wrapped them both underneath it as the sun dropped behind the trees by the water. That shot is one of my favourites from the whole year.

As the light faded, guests moved through to Centennial Homestead for the reception. Warm timber, dark glass, candlelight, and a room full of people who were genuinely there for Lily and Tom. The speeches had the whole table in tears and then immediately in stitches. That photo of the two of them absolutely losing it says everything about who they are together.

Lily and Tom, your day was a reminder of why I love this job. Thank you for having me.
