Confetti, Coral Peonies & Country Skies — Ellen and Pat at Goonoo Goonoo Station, Tamworth

There are country weddings and then there is Goonoo Goonoo Station. Sitting just outside Tamworth with sweeping rural views, restored heritage brick buildings and gardens that go on forever, it is the kind of place that makes you feel something the moment you arrive. Ellen and Pat understood that completely and gave themselves fully to every part of it.

The day started at the property's beautiful modern guesthouse, Ellen's lace gown hanging in the window with paddocks and cottage garden blooms stretching out behind it. It was one of those quiet morning shots that sets the tone for everything to come.

Pat and his groomsmen moved through the venue's manicured garden walkways looking sharp in dark suits and bow ties, pink buttonholes catching the light. When they all came together under that magnificent old tree on the lawn, surrounded by an explosion of coral peonies, blush roses and wildflowers spilling across the ground, the whole scene just sang. Ellen in her fitted lace gown with that sweeping cathedral veil against all of that colour was breathtaking.

The confetti moment was everything. A proper cloud of white petals filling the air around them as they shared their first kiss as husband and wife, the old brick barns in the background, guests cheering from every direction.

Cocktail hour spilled out across the grounds in the afternoon sun, guests mingling against the stunning backdrop of those heritage red brick buildings with the Tamworth ranges stretching out beyond. Then as the sun dropped, Ellen and Pat slipped away for portraits on the deck, the whole sky going gold behind them. They chased that light and it gave everything back.

Inside the reception space, the Goonoo Goonoo 1955 stencilling on the old whitewashed brick walls was a reminder of just how much history this place holds. Their first dance in that room, lit by a single spotlight with the whole crowd watching on, is one of the most beautiful frames I've made all year.

Ellen put it in a way that genuinely means a lot: "We never had to think twice about timelines or what was coming next because he had everything under control. That allowed us to relax and genuinely enjoy every moment of our day."

That is exactly what this job is supposed to feel like. Ellen and Pat, you two were made for a day like this. Thank you for having me.
